A radical but simple vertipad design is under development by Australian vertiport and AAM company Skyportz and company CEO and founder Clem Newton-Brown is at Farnborough International Airshow 2024 discussing the concept with OEMs and other vertiport companies who could become customers for the product.
The novel vertipad solution addresses several issues including passenger safety, downwash, outwash, battery fires, power generation, power storage, debris capture, noise, environmental impacts and more, all in an affordable package that can be placed on airport aprons or on new vertiport sites.
The new design will enable operations from smaller footprints – “and that will have a significant and quantifiable benefit for both airports and property owners planning vertiports,” said Clem Newton-Brown. The design patent has been shared by Newton-Brown under an NDA with interested parties and development partners this week.
