ANAC selects regulatory sandbox teams to develop vertiports in Brazil

Brazil’s Civil Aviation Agency ANAC has selected teams led by Vertimob Infrastructure Ltda and PAX Aeroportos to develop the regulatory sandbox for the national vertiport model.

The objective of the work is to provide solutions and proposals for infrastructure and operation models for vertiports to accommodate eVTOL aircraft passenger operations. The projects will cover topics such as the layout of the aircraft landing and take-off area, final approach and take-off trajectories, support capacity of physical infrastructure, fire-fighting system, physical space for maintenance, repair and support services, aircraft noise requirements, operational safety and appropriate access control.

The goal is to conduct tests and analyses according to the regulatory sandbox model, to enable the development of the appropriate infrastructure for the operation of this equipment, generating social, economic and environmental benefits. The process will be supervised by ANAC, and in the future, it may help define safety requirements for vertiports .

PAX and partner UrbanV were selected by ANAC to work in partnership to develop standards and procedures for vertiport operations in urban areas and airports. The team also includes Eve Air Mobility, GOL and Saipher ATC.

Vertimob Infrastructure announced that the company and its partner SJK Airport had also been selected at a ceremony on April 11. Vertimob will also be supported by Eve Air Mobility along with Dassault Systèmes, Voar Aviation and Engeletricasul.
