UrbanV and Cluster2 to develop AAM infrastructure at 22 airports in Saudi Arabia

UrbanV, the Italian vertiport network operator and Cluster2, the airport operator managing 22 airports across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, have signed a partnership to develop Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) and Urban Air Mobility (UAM) in Saudi Arabia.

The two companies will conduct comprehensive feasibility studies to implement AAM solutions at airports managed by Cluster2 Airports, while ensuring compliance with the regulations of the General Authority of Civil Aviation in the Kingdom of Saud i Arabia, safety standards and environmental sustainability goals, according to a company press release.

“The partnership also includes UrbanV transferring its expertise in advanced air mobility (AAM), providing training programs and technical knowledge, and cooperating with relevant parties,” said the release. “Furthermore, the companies will launch initial pilot programmes for the introduction of eVTOL services for targeted applications such as medical emergencies, VIP transport, and cargo logistics. These programmes will act as proof-of-concept initiatives to evaluate the operational integration of AAM in real-world conditions.

“Both companies are committed with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and its broader sustainability goals, including the use of zero-emission eVTOL vehicles and environmentally sustainable vertiport design.”
