CycloTech sets up research and collaboration centre in Bavaria

CycloTech, developer of CycloRotor VTOL propulsion system has announced it has set up a subsidiary in Bavaria.

“With the decision to establish a German subsidiary, we lay the foundation for our next phase of expansion,” says Dr.-Ing. Marcus Bauer, CEO of CycloTech. “Bavaria offers the perfect combination of aviation and automotive expertise, excellent research and development, and a strong political and economic environment. Here, we have the ideal conditions to actively shape the future of electric flight.”

The Bavarian state government has supported CycloTech’s growth in Germany. Former State Minister and economic policy spokesperson of the CSU parliamentary group, Kerstin Schreyer, who, together with Member of Parliament Maximilian Böltl, assisted CycloTech in its establishment, said: “Bavaria is the innovation hub for aviation and aerospace in Germany – and with our Hightech Agenda Bavaria and the Aerospace Cluster, we provide an excellent platform for companies like CycloTech. The unique CycloRotor propulsion systems can give Bavaria’s aviation industry crucial momentum for the next generation of sustainable mobility solutions. I highly welcome CycloTech’s decision to choose Bavaria as the location for its expansion, and we will support the company in every way possible to establish this future technology here.”

CycloTech’s headquarters in Linz will continue to serve as its development and flight-testing centre. The expansion into Bavaria is primarily aimed at strengthening research and industrial collaborations, said the company in a press release. “The area around Taufkirchen/Ottobrunn offers particularly strong potential, thanks to its robust industrial presence, innovation strength, and scientific expertise – bolstered by a new aerospace faculty of the Technical University of Munich.”

CycloTech now plans to expand its research and development activities in Germany and, in the medium term, prepare the serial production of CycloRotor propulsion systems. Beyond urban air mobility, applications include unmanned aerial systems, specialized logistics, military applications, and emergency medical services.
