Spanish police employ drones to enforce movement restrictions during Covid-19 emergency

According to olivepress.es , drones have been adopted by the Municipal Police of Madrid amid a nationwide shut down of public gatherings, bars, restaurants, parks and clubs. They have been used in areas of the capital such as Segovia Bridge and Puerta del Sol.

Following China and Italy, drones have been broadcasting messages to passers by, telling them to stay at home and avoid going outside unless absolutely necessary. It comes after authorities there sealed off public parks from 4pm, Sunday, in a bid to reduce the risk of Covid-19 contagion.

The whole of Spain is now in lockdown as the number of coronavirus cases around the country have soared to 6,046 with 191 deaths, the second highest in Europe after Italy.
