Pilot Project: Sircilla police link drones with patrol cars

Sircilla, a town in the Indian State of Telangana, saw their police link up drone cameras to enhance enforcement and surveillance in the district, reports Telanganatoday.com. Acer, with the support of T-Hub, has taken this up as a pilot project for the district, where a drone and operator is attached to every patrolling vehicle.

All the drones with camera video surveillance are interlinked with a district headquarters command control room from where officers can watch visuals as well as pin-pointing the drone location. Moreover, thermal drones have also been used to get clear night visuals. Superintendent of Police, Rahul Hegde explained, “Police can gain visuals and other details from the interior areas where patrolling vehicles and blue colt cops can’t reach.”

The force are also planning to link drones to the district’s 100 emergency service so the craft can reach the spot quickly. “It helps us to successfully enhance surveillance and enforcement,” added Hegde.
