Covid-19: Drones used to disinfect hospital ward at India’s Madurai government hospital

According to kanaknews.com, this week the Coronavirus Treatment Ward at the Indian Madurai Government Rajaji Hospital was disinfected by drones after spraying an antiseptic liquid solution.

Ranjit, the drone operator, explained, “Presently, as outsiders cannot enter the ward, the Municipal Cooperation has decided to use drones to spray disinfectants in and around the building.” Adding, “We have also been directed to use these craft in a similar way at other government buildings.” Earlier, these same drones had been employed on farmland.

According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, 738 positive COVID-19 cases have been reported so far in the region. Overall, there are  5,734 cases in India with a death toll of 166 people.

Madurai is the cultural capital of Tamil Nadu and the district’s Administrative Headquarters. It is the 44th most populated city in India.
