European standards agency EUROCAE and European Aviation Safety Agency EASA plan a joint workshop on 6 June 2019 to prioritise standardisation needs for Vertical Take Off and Landing (VTOL) aircraft. The workshop at EUROCAE premises in Paris will include key stakeholders from industry, airspace users, European states and institutions. EASA seeks to have industry standards established in a stepwise approach which addresses the most important Acceptable Means of Compliance (AMC). This includes developing a VTOL Special Condition (SC) to address particularities of this new aircraft category using lift/thrust units to generate powered lift and control. Following an objective-based approach, the VTOL SC is expected to be published in mid-2019.
