FAA suspends “Integration of Powered-Lift” rule pending government regulatory freeze

The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has temporarily suspended the enforcement of its new “Integration of Powered-Lift: Pilot Certification and Operations” rule until 20 March, following US President Trump’s ‘Regulatory Freeze Pending Review’ directive of late January, according to multiple press reports.

The rule went into effect on January 21, but the FAA has said it would not enforce the rule during the review period.

The “Integration of Powered-Lift: Pilot Certification and Operations; Miscellaneous Amendments Related to Rotorcraft and Airplanes” (RIN 2120-AL72) rule establishes standards for pilot training, qualifications, and certification for powered-lift aircraft. It also addresses operational requirements, including minimum safe altitudes and required visibility.
