The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has invited industry stakeholders to attend a webinar A New Era of Aviation: An AAM Webinar Series, featuring the agency’s wake turbulence programme and “how it will help in preparing for advanced air mobility (AAM) operations.”
“Wake refers to turbulence every aircraft generates that could disrupt aircraft flying behind it.” according to an agency news release. “The FAA’s data-driven, science-based wake assessments keep aircraft safely separated and passengers flying more comfortably.
“We will look at the FAA’s role in researching and evaluating the effects of wake vortices, why this effort is relevant for AAM aircraft, and the importance of understanding aircraft performance specifications for our analyses.
“More than 6,000 viewers have tuned in for our first two webinars, which allow the FAA to connect and update the public on crucial activities needed to debut these operations in U.S. national airspace.”
The webinar will take place Wednesday, February 21 from 2-3 p.m. Eastern Standard Time with a recording viewable on YouTube afterward at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iWbP9cI-xXY.
