Sirius Aviation and BMW Group Designworks launch hydrogen-electric luxury eVTOL

Sirius Aviation AG will announce the official global unveiling of the SiriusJet, a hydrogen-electric powered luxury business jet with a clean-sheet eVTOL design at the MOVE Expo in London on Thursday, June 20, 2024.

“This launch marks a significant partnership between Sirius Aviation AG and BMW Group Designworks, blending state-of-the-art technology with elegant design,” Sirius Aviation AG’s CEO Alexey PopovPopov said. “The SiriusJet sets a new standard in aviation with its hydrogen propulsion system paired with luxurious business jet features. This pioneering approach signifies a major leap towards sustainable aviation.”

According to the company:

“The SiriusJet is a clean-sheet eVTOL design that uses a hydrogen-electric power train to drive 28 300 mm 1 kN electric engines. The hydrogen-electric system draws in oxygen through an intake in the nose of the aircraft, which reacts with hydrogen that is stored a fuselage tank. The reaction produces electricity to power the motors and water, which is disposed of through the aircraft exhaust at the tail. There are no carbon emissions. Performance projections show a cruise altitude of 30,000 feet at a speed of 280 knots, producing less than 60 db of noise.

“Sirius Aircraft plans to offer the SiriusJet in two configurations: a luxury business version that seats four with a range of 998 nm, and a Millennium version that seats five, but has a lesser range of 564 nm. Clients can tailor every aspect of the interior, including unique colors, upholstery, amenities like champagne fridges, pet spaces, wardrobes, custom bathrooms, unique art installations, minibars, kitchens, lighting designs, and flooring materials such as marble, hardwood, or custom carpets. This meticulous attention to detail ensures a bespoke experience catering to individual preferences.
