“In a pioneering step towards modernizing transportation methods, Saudi Airlines is gearing up to launch flying taxis as an innovative mode of transport for pilgrims during the Hajj seasons. These electric aircraft, characterized by their vertical takeoff and landing capabilities (will transport passengers from King Abdulaziz Airport in Jeddah to hotels in Makkah.
“The General Manager of Corporate Communications at Saudi Airlines confirms that the Lilium electric aircraft represents a model of innovation and sustainability, with low carbon emissions and a range of up to 250 km….With the purchase of about 100 aircraft, Saudi Airlines plans to expand its network of routes, offering premium services to connect various travel destinations and contributing to the enhancement of the tourism sector in the Kingdom.
“The aircraft features a unique cabin offering multiple seating arrangements, catering to the needs of elite travelers seeking exceptional travel experiences…..The aircraft to be used by Saudi Airlines is the Lilium eVTOL, a fully electric aircraft that can accommodate 4-6 passengers and has a range of 250 kilometers.
“The operation of the flying taxis for Saudi Airlines is expected to begin in the Hajj season of 2024, marking a significant step towards improving travel experiences and providing advanced and rapid transportation services for pilgrims…..This step represents a significant development in the Kingdom’s aviation sector, focusing on sustainability and enhancing the travel experience for pilgrims.”
