Kittyhawk decides to wind down its operation

Kittyhawk, the eVTOL manufacturer launched by Google co-founder Larry Page and Google executive Sebastian Thrun has announced via Twitter: “We have made the decision to wind down Kittyhawk. We’re still working on the details of what’s next.”

The company has been developing the Heaviside autonomous eVTOL vehicle and had built more than 16 H2 variant of Heavyside vehicles.

In 2020 Kittyhawk joined the Air Force Research Laboratory’s AFWERX Agility Prime programme; Kittyhawk was awarded an airworthiness approval by the U.S. Air Force and the Heaviside H2 aircraft began flight testing under Air Force direction. In 2021, Kittyhawk demonstrated the first UAM beyond-visual-line-of-sight flight in the United States with H2, part of a joint effort with the FAA, the Air Force and SkyVision, a ground-based radar service.

Kittyhawk is also a joint owner with Boeing of  Wisk Aero.
