Joby Aviation has announced on social media that it has recently completed aircraft characterisation testing for High-Intensity Radiated Field (HIRF) at Edwards AFB, partnering with experienced USAF and Naval Surface Warfare Centre personnel.
“This campaign evaluated our aircraft’s ability to protect its electric and electronic equipment from external sources of radio-frequency interference — an important part of demonstrating the ability of any aircraft to safely operate near radio stations, radars, and other communication installations” according to the post.
“We are pleased to share that the results are very encouraging and will help us prepare to conduct similar testing for FAA credit as part of our certification program. We’re grateful to the DoD personnel who lent their time, expertise, and equipment as part of this test campaign.”
