Multiple press sources report that Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) on September 6 issued an experimental flight authorization for a Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS), for the purpose of research and development, to GO HOBBY Distribuidora de Vant LTDA, applicable to the EHang EH216 model.
“The authorization allows the company to perform tests and trials to evaluate the operational characteristics of the equipment,” said the Aeroflap news source. “ANAC took as a basis, for issuing the authorization, the Regulation BrazilAviation Industry Special Civil (RBAC-E) No. 94, equating the operation of the model, given the established limitations, to the Class 1 drone. Thus, during the analysis, the Agency’s focus was on assessing the safety of the operation, especially with regard to the protection of third parties. As a result, some limitations were imposed on the operation of the equipment, such as the prohibition of transporting people, visual line of sight (VLOS) flights and the implementation of fixed areas for testing.…ANAC reinforces that, at the moment, there is no prospect, in the short term, of certification of this aircraft, as there is no proven acceptable safety standard for the approval of aircraft of this type and their operation.”
