The very first international flight of a 100% electrically powered aircraft, configured to carry passengers or cargo, has landed in Montréal, according to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
“In recognition of this exciting and timely illustration of the incredible progress in innovation towards the decarbonisation of flight, the aircraft, constructed by BETA Technologies, was welcomed by ICAO Secretary General Juan Carlos Salazar,” said ICAO in a social media post.
BETA Technologies made the first international flight of its all-electric Alia-250 eCTOL aircraft prototype, N250UT, from Plattsburgh, New York, to Trudeau Airport in Montreal, Quebec. The 31 minute flight covered 65 miles (105 km).
