India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi speaking at the second Asia Pacific Civil Aviation Ministers Conference on September 12, said air taxis will soon be a reality in India.
“The day is not far when travel by air taxi will be a reality,” Mr. Modi said at the second Asia Pacific Ministerial Conference on Civil Aviation which is being hosted in India in collaboration with the International Civil Aviation Organization. The conference concluded on Thursday with the adoption of the Delhi Declaration.
“India has also launched a very ambitious drone project in rural areas, especially in the agriculture sector,” said prime minister Modi. “We have created a pool of trained drone pilots through the village-to-village ‘Drone Didi’ campaign.”
Over the past few days, India’s civil aviation authority has published new regulatory guidelines for the vertiport and eVTOL certification.
