Ameco Research says the global air taxi market size is anticipated to reach USD 7,234 million by 2030 with a CAGR of 26.8 percent from 2022 to 2030.
“As cities grow more congested, the demand for innovative mobility solutions has surged, making air taxis a key player in the future of transportation,” Ameco says. “Innovations in battery efficiency, lightweight materials, and autonomous flight systems have made eVTOL aircraft more viable for commercial use.”
Ameco says governments worldwide are recognising the potential of air taxis and are working on regulations to integrate them into existing air traffic systems, noting that the United States, China and several European countries are actively developing policies to enable safe urban air mobility.
The sector is not without challenges. “Ensuring the safety of autonomous air taxis in crowded airspace requires stringent regulations and certification processes, which are still in development,” Ameco says and adds that high initial costs, public acceptance and infrastructure limitations are also currently limiting some developments.
However, cities like Los Angeles, Dubai, Singapore, and Tokyo are expected to be early adopters, Ameco notes, integrating air taxis into their public transport systems. In addition, airlines are exploring last-mile connectivity solutions, partnering with air taxi providers to offer airport-to-city transfers. Government commitments to green, sustainable aviation will also likely contribute to the growth of the sector.
