Wingcopter and the African Drone and Data Academy recently entered a hackathon organised by German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the European Commission (EuropeAid) – together they have been chosen as one of the nine winners, report suasnews.com.
The pitch was to use drones and data for good, improving health supply chains, and opening up new perspectives in Africa, especially during the pandemic. The African countries chosen are Malawi and Rwanda.
The drone solution ensures an efficient health supply chain in remote areas and moreover maps pre- and post-pandemic impacts. The project will establish a “multi-purpose” drone network with local graduates to enter professions such as pilots, project managers and safety and maintenance workers. This solution does not happen in isolation, but in an innovative ecosystem with the necessary legal and governmental infrastructure to support it.
