First responders use emergency response drones with video streaming in Houston

The Center for the Study of the Drone and Clock2Houston report that Houston’s Memorial Villages Police Department has linked up with new start-up Paladin Drones (https://paladindrones.io/) to provide an instant UAS call-out to first responders in the event of an emergency.

Paladin has developed a drone-based emergency response system – including home alarms being set off and accidents which can have a drone in the air within 15 seconds stream video in real time to the first responder teams.

“The software that we built allows any first responders to get a live overhead view of an emergency before they actually arrive,” CEO of Paladin Drones Divyaditya Shrivastava was quoted in the news report. “The onboard camera is also able to provide help in the dark. “Incidents at night or an incident where there are fire, that thermal camera can actually pick up heat signatures,” Shrivastava said.

According to the company’s website: “At Paladin, we want to minimize any guesswork involved, and provide as much information to the people who need it most. Our UAV platform is an autonomous tool, designed to give responders the situational awareness they need, without sacrificing someone to control the drone. A department using our platform can save at least two minutes in response time, and decrease operational costs by at least USD100,000.”
