A new study from CE Delft, commissioned by Elysian Aircraft, finds that by 2035, battery-electric flight will have the lowest climate impact, reducing lifecycle emissions by 70% compared to kerosene and operating three to four times more efficiently than aircraft powered by hydrogen or synthetic fuels (eSAF).
“With flights under 1,000 km accounting for 50% of passenger trips and 20% of aviation-related CO₂ emissions, electric aviation offers a significant opportunity to reduce emissions,” said the report.
Elysian is developing the E9X, a 90-seat electrically powered airliner with an eventual range of 1000 km.
