“Yesterday, our EH216-S pilotless passenger-carrying eVTOL and logistics eVTOL took off in Zhuhai, a seaside city with lots of islands that’s actively embracing China’s low-altitude economy initiative,” said Chines eVTOL manufacturer EHang in a social media on X.
“The passenger-carrying flights mark the first of their kind in Zhuhai, offering several passengers an aerial sightseeing experience. These flights were conducted by the EH216-S eVTOLs already delivered to our local customer, Wanshan Development Group Co Ltd.
“At the flight event, China’s first low-altitude logistics route for islands was launched, and our logistics eVTOL completed a 25-minute flight carrying aquatic products, reducing the original transportation time by 80%.
“Among many Chinese cities, Zhuhai is vigorously developing its low-altitude economy. In June, the city issued several measures to support the high-quality development of the low-altitude economy, proposing to expand low-altitude flight application scenarios and encourage the commercial operation of eVTOLs. Looking ahead, EHang will continue to advance the operation of eVTOLs in island tourism, inter-island transportation, and logistics in Zhuhai, contributing to the city’s vision of becoming a “Sky City”.”
