Vertiports Network to develop air mobility innovation centre at Teruel Airport

The Spanish startup Vertiports Network has been given approval from the Teruel Airport Consortium to develop and operate an Urban Air Mobility Innovation Center (CIMAU) at its facilities. The Consortium, in collaboration with the Government of Aragón, endorsed the initiative by granting their request.

“Vertiports Network is developing an innovative technological solution to help cities adapt to this emerging mode of transportation,” says Vertiports Network. “Their modular vertiport design can be tailored to fit any rooftop or urban space, accommodating operations and services for electric air taxis. Additionally, their operations management and ticketing software will enable the operation of an on-demand air taxi service utilizing electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft (eVTOLs).

“Earlier this year, they presented the project to the management of Teruel’s Airport, led by Alejandro F. Ibrahim Perera, to install an innovation center. This center will not only facilitate the construction and certification of Spain’s first modular vertiport but also foster collaboration with other industry companies to advance this new mode of mobility.

“Mariano de Diego Biosca, CEO and co-founder of Vertiports Network, said the company aims to construct and initiate the certification process for the infrastructure in 2025, with plans to commence flight operations in 2026. Their objective is to launch the air taxi service in a Spanish city by mid to late 2026. Currently, they are seeking funding to build the initial vertiport networks in Spain over the next two years.

Vertiports Network is a Madrid-based startup, certified by ENISA (Spanish National Innovation Company) as an emerging company and accelerated by the Lanzadera entrepreneurship program in Valencia (accepted into the program in September 2023). Their mission is to reduce commuting time through an electric air taxi service operating within their network of vertiports.

Vertiports Network is planning the first routes for operating eVTOL flights in Spain, targeting cities such as Madrid, Marbella, Valencia, Castellon, Alicante, and more. Their modular vertiport technology and flight management software will enable them to utilize and profit from any available building rooftop or urban space through the sale of flights.
