Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) will publish a project call notice to select those interested in “participating in the definition of the regulation of vertiports, landing and take-off sites for eVTOLs, electric vertical take-off and landing vehicles.”
“The notice should be published in the next few days and will call on companies and organizations to present proposals and innovative solutions to define the vertiport model to be adopted in Brazil,” according to ANAC. “The call is one of the instruments to be used by Anac in the adoption of a regulatory sandbox , an experimental and innovative model for regulatory development, which had its public consultation process extended until July 10th.
“The vertiport project must foresee the use of new technologies, must be aligned with the Agency’s regulations and be compatible with the sector’s regulatory framework.
“Proposals must contain, among other aspects: layout of the aircraft landing and take-off area; final approach and takeoff trajectories, support capacity of physical infrastructures, fire fighting system, physical space for maintenance, repair and support services, aeronautical noise requirements and appropriate access control (facilitation and security ).
“Those interested in participating in the notice will have to have the necessary and sufficient technical capacity to carry out the intended activity in an experimental regulatory environment.
“The resolution proposing the experimental regulatory environment has been under public consultation (public consultation no. 4/2024) since the end of April. Suggestions will be received through an electronic form and all information about the new regulations is available on the Anac portal on the Public Consultations page . There are the draft resolution, justification and technical note, in addition to the form.
Private legal entities that meet criteria and limits established by the Agency may participate in the sandbox . A commission will be established that will be responsible for supervising activities related to the experimental regulatory environment.
“On June 13, ANAC will hold a webinar to detail the call for vertiports and the proposed resolution that creates the Anac Regulatory Sandbox , an experimental regulatory environment in the airline sector.
The event will be broadcast on ANAC’s YouTube channel, from 10am to 12pm, and will feature the participation of the Agency’s technicians and experts on the topics: sandbox and vertiport os. The objective is to answer questions from companies, regulated entities and associations that wish to participate in the notice and contribute with suggestions for the sandbox model.
