Libra Group’s Aria Hotels “to build four vertiports in Greece to support BETA ALIA eVTOL services”

Greek news website Capital GR reports that Libra Group, through its subsidiary company Aria Hotels, plans to build and operate four vertiports in Greece, which will support electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.

“The plan is to place them in strategic points, such as Athens, southern mainland Greece and the Cyclades, in order to strengthen regional connectivity and promote ecotourism. It is the first construction of its kind and is part of an investment of EUR 50 million, to promote eVTOLs and strengthen the sustainable economy in Greece,” said the news source.

Aria Hotels has leased 10 BETA ALIA eVTOL aircraft through an agreement with LCI, a Libra Group subsidiary and leading aircraft lessor.

“The new vertiports will include charging stations for electric aircraft and waiting areas for visitors, without requiring a large area and with a lower environmental impact compared to traditional aircraft infrastructure,” continued the news report. The eVTOL aircraft are zero-carbon and designed to carry five passengers and a pilot, or up to 635kg of payload. With a maximum range of 250 nautical miles and the ability to recharge in less than an hour, they are ideal for transporting visitors from mainland Greece to its islands and anywhere in between.”

According to a July 2022 Libra Group statement: “Aria, a boutique hospitality group with 50 properties across Greece that is known for curating authentic Greek experiences, will offer the use of 10 ALIA-250 eVTOLs to help holiday-goers traverse Greece and its isles, while also serving the wider community by transporting time-sensitive cargo, in a greener, faster, and more affordable way. The all-electric ALIA is net carbon-zero and designed to carry five passengers and a pilot or 1,400 lbs (635 kgs) of payload. With a maximum range of 250 nautical miles and the ability to recharge in under an hour, these aircraft are ideal to transport tourists from Greece’s mainland to its isles and everywhere in between.”
