The French language La Depeche news outlet reports that Blue Spirit Aero Dragonfly eVTOL, equipped with twelve small electric motors powered by hydrogen fuel cells weighing 10 kg each, will start flight testing this year with commercial marketing to start in 2027.
The four-seater aircraft (pilot included) will be like the insect… zero emissions,” reports the site. “Its propulsion system will develop an overall power of 180 kW. To save space in the plane, hydrogen gas under pressure (700 bar) and fuel cells will be integrated into pods under the wing. To fill up with hydrogen, it will be like on a classic plane, with a nozzle and two filling ports at wing level.”
