Paris 2023: Air Liquide and Groupe ADP announce “Hydrogen Airport” joint venture

Air Liquide and Groupe ADP have announced the creation of Hydrogen Airport, “the first engineering and consulting joint venture specialising in helping airports integrate hydrogen projects within their infrastructures”. The governance team is reported to be in place and the joint venture has begun commercial activities.

This joint venture was created following a study carried out jointly with Airbus in 2021 focusing on feasibility studies to facilitate the introduction of hydrogen planes in approximately 30 airports around the world according to the press release.

Hydrogen Airport the companies say is targeting a global market, with initial business development efforts focused on approximately 200 international and regional airports of a given critical size located in current or future hydrogen hubs (North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific).

In the framework of this joint venture, Air Liquide reports it brings its expertise in hydrogen, which ranges from the production of renewable or low-carbon hydrogen, to liquefaction, storage, and the distribution of hydrogen for aircraft. Groupe ADP reports it contributes its expertise in airport infrastructure and operations.
