The European Commission has launched new calls for projects under Horizon Europe’s Work Programme for 2023-2024 Cluster 5 – which groups together topics on Climate Action, Energy and Mobility. A total of EUR 420.1 million in EU funding is available under these calls with deadlines of 05 September and 10 October 2023 – battery research and aviation safety/risk management challenges are part of the research areas to be funded. These include:
- Aviation safety – Uncertainty quantification for safety and risk management
- Advanced materials and cells development enabling large-scale production of Gen4 solid-state batteries for mobility applications (Batt4EU Partnership)
- New Approaches to Develop Enhanced Safety Materials for Gen 3 Li-Ion Batteries for Mobility Applications (Batt4EU Partnership)
- Creating a digital passport to track battery materials, optimize battery performance and life, validate recycling, and promote a new business model based on data sharing (Batt4EU Partnership)
- Climate resilient and safe maritime ports
