The research demonstrated that once exposed to loud noise, it is hard to reduce unconscious stress even if the sound becomes quieter. Using a simulator that allows subjects to experience a flying car flying overhead, researchers compared the stress level evaluation by a conscious survey and an unconscious Kansei analyser based on simple electroencephalogram measurement regarding “noise”.
The survey showed that the stress tended to be relieved when the sound was reduced after being exposed to a loud noise once, whereas the Kansei Analyzer showed that the unconscious stress was not reduced.
The results are important for formulating guidelines for developing air infrastructure and creating innovative aircraft that are friendly to the ground community.
